Hey ladies! So summer is almost done with which means the end to this blazing heat. Sweet sweet relief, but it also means great fall wear. Personally, a good vintage boutique pops into mind when I think fall. I don’t know why exactly, but I picture fall as a retro season. Which is awesome cause in the state of Texas, it can be dead in the middle of fall/winter and still be a sizzling ninety degrees. So cute dresses, scarfs, and cover-ups. Recently I had time to chat with an expert in cute: Emily of Feathers Boutique in Austin, Texas.

Feathers Boutique is a vintage boutique, and its best quality may be how affordable is ia! But, naturally, you may want to know what sets this boutique apart from others. Well, yes, this a vintage store, but the ladies of the store hand pick every item! They also alter their garments to make it more in fashion at the moment. I think this is great; don’t get me wrong, vintage is always fab but to kind of tweak it and make it unique in a way is even better! “We want to offer the best styles, in the best fabrics,” says Emily.
The best seller at this boutique is their dresses, they have a dress from almost any era! Oh how I would love a pin-up girl dress from the 50’s! Since it is my goal to become a buyer myself, I asked how the boutiques buying process works and in case any of you guys are curious as well. Apparently they make buying appointments daily, and they take in 30% of the retail price of the items they accept or 50% for trade. Either way you can get a great deal when you offer your goods! Which makes customers like me smile.
Along with the brick and mortar store they have a great website/blog! They update on the regular and always post what’s new, I love it cause it makes me go “gaga” for the outfits they put together. Everything is neat and organized in a professional manner, and the great thing is they’ll be happy to ship anywhere. Check it out here.
Also wondering why another great boutique chose to open up shop in Austin? Well of course Texas prices! You can always guarantee this city is a going to be a birthplace to some great fashion! It’s always re-inventing itself with the young atmosphere, and it’s a hot spot, literally and figuratively. I highly recommend visiting this boutique and get a real Austin experience.
