Love them or hate them, you have to admit Train makes some pretty catchy tunes.  Yes, “Hey, Soul Sister” got on my nerves by the end of last summer too, and “Drops of Jupiter” will always remind me of high school, but I still love their thoughtful lyrics and you have to admit Pat Monohan is talented.  I recently set my Pandora to play Train-esque songs and discovered one of their oldies that has quickly become a new fave of mine.  It’s called Mississippi, and it’s one of those songs that requires you to be sipping coffee, listening to the rain, reading a good book.  So if it’s not currently raining wherever you are at this moment, go turn on the faucet or something.  Just kidding, we at Haute in Texas support water conservation. 🙂  Seriously though, take  a listen.

So what do you wear when you’re inspired by a song like this?  The answer: anything cozy and casual.  My kind of outfit. 🙂

Under the Influence: Train's Mississippi

Ok, I know I said casual, but this outfit is just a little more fabulous than sweatpants.  And the shoes.  Don’t even get me started, they are inspired by traditional English dancing shoes and I literally want to melt into the floor every time I look at them.  And they’re Mulberry, so you know the level of quality means they’ll still be comfy. I promise. 🙂 You can never go wrong with linen shorts and a cozy cardigan.  All in all, the bright colors bring some life to the outfit, and a bright scarf on a straw tote ties it all together.  So go sip tea in a local shop somewhere, while reading something intelligent.  And listen to Train’s Mississippi while you’re at it.

XO,
