I know I’m a bit belated, but I am just now getting around to reading the September issue of Vogue.  And the sad part is, no matter how much I put it off, I still want everything in it.  But before we get into what was inside, can we just talk about the cover for a little bit?  I thought Kate Moss looked like a darling in distress, but in the most amazing way.  And I loved, loved, loved, the way her wedding ring perfectly peeked out from behind her dress.  I don’t even care if it was photoshopped or not, it looked effortlessly glamorous.  As if she was looking out at you saying, “Why yes, dahhhhling, I did have the “most romantic wedding of the year”, and then I snagged the cover of Vogue.  Life is fahhhhhhbulous.”

Next up, the ads.  And there were a billion of them.  Ok, around 600 pages to be exact.  I thought the Miu Miu spread with Hailee Steinfeld was whimsical and engaging.  It told a beautiful story, and those shoes in the last shot…to die for.  And how about Julianne Moore for Talbots?  If I was forced to become a redhead, I’d want to look just like her.  She makes age look graceful, and that shot with the white trench coat: divine.  I also got kind of pumped up by that Nike ad for your “Best Butt Ever” because, at five months pregnant, I’d take any pair of pants that promises that.

And finally, the actual magazine articles.  The piece by Lauren Manning on surviving 9/11 was riveting, absolutely riveting.  I read the article on the Libyan revolution with a sense of irony, considering the developments we’ve seen in recent days.  I love that color was in abundance, from the article on pop art patterns, to art deco, to the makeup feature warning us to beware of “chromophobia”.  Fall can be a depressing time for fashion, but this season just feels different.  Totally agreed with all the “types” of designers for the season, although The Subversives section felt a bit like a cop-out.  Goodness gracious Kate Moss looked good in her spread.  That Yves Saint Laurent painsuit was so striking, especially when paired with a wide-brimmed hat.

What do you think about the issue? Fabulous or fail?  Do you agree with the summaries of fall trends? Discuss!
