Every Summer, as my skin slowly starts to darken under the Texas sun, I contemplate the benefits of bronzing and contouring. I have very few natural angles to my face (I’m baby-faced– I look like a 12 year old with big boobs without make-up on) so it always seems like a great way to highlight my face, but in a world of bronzers that look straight out of Snooki’s caboodle kit and with colors ranging from tan, to too-tan, to too-tan with sparkles, I’ve always felt a little lost. I’ve spent a long while trying to find a bronzer that is matte, sweat-proof (Hey, it is Texas, afterall) and is not only a natural color for me, but whose color builds easily– versus one that goes on too heavy. Well, according to several reviews on Youtube, one does exist, and I’m anxious to get it. The product I’m most lusting after right now is Tarte’s Matte Waterproof Bronzer.

See that shade? We call that shade “natural”. Has just a slight pinky peach shade (dubbed Park Ave Princess) to it to emulate natural coloring. It’s perfect. Apparently the color goes on in soft layers and blends easily and is waterproof so it wont even come off in the pool! It is priced at $29.  Since I’ve yet to find any other shades and brands that I like (call me picky, okay) I can’t say that I’ve got loads of informational ammo up my three-quarter sleeves, but here are some other highly recommended bronzers according to Sephora.com.

1. Benefit’s Boxed Powder collection in Hoola ($28)

Hoola is also another well reviewed product that has a more yellow-peachy bronze shade that I think would be good for olive tones, or those who already have too much pink in their skin.  The box is adorable enough to make it a worthy purchase, but I’m sure this product lives up to the hype.

2.  Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna ($33)

First of all I’m a huge Nars lover. I use their blushes exclusively because the colors are perfect, highly pigmented and last forever. This bronzer is a great shade for tan to olive tones. It’s a true bronzer, probably too dark for my skin, but I’ve seen it used on celebs like Leighton Meester and Hillary Duff with much success.

What is your favorite bronzer? Do you use it regularly or just for special occasions?

XO,

K
