We’ve been covering summer outfits, suits, and beach necessities so much its got me to dreaming about idyllic beaches, relaxing beneath palms, and reading a good book.  This, unfortunately, is where my fantasy came to a screeching halt, as I realized I have yet to purchase anything for my summer reading list, and thus a book has made it to my TWW post.  The Book Thief was published in 2006, so it is by no means flying off the bookshelves this summer, yet when I heard my cousin describe it on her blog (which is fabulous, by the way), it quickly rose to the top of my must-read list.

If you’re like me and just discovering this novel, the premise is simple:  It’s set in Nazi Germany during World War II and it’s narrated by Death.  Intriqued?  Yeah, me too.  Thus, it will be sitting on my lap during my trip to the Hotel Galvez in a few weeks.  If that little get-away sounds familiar, you may remember it made our list of Top 5 Get-Aways in Texas.  See, we practice what we preach here at Haute in Texas!  So whether you pick up The Book Thief, or indulge in any other summer hobby, I wish you a season of page-turning action, on or off the literary map.

XO,

A
