I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving! Did you already put up the tree or does the Christmas season officially start today for you?  Whatever you’re up to, I’m sure you have better things to do than read a lengthy bump update, so I’ve just got a quick post today with a major photo dump from our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday! This was our first time hosting, and the first time Orlando had been back in San Antonio for Thanksgiving since he was in high school.  We spent the morning and early afternoon with the Valdez side, then headed back to our house to host the Mendez side for round two.  Both sides were full of great food and tons of laughter.  And nothing beats a battle to the death in Pictionary to round out the evening!

Thanksgiving Dinner Decor Ideas

I decided to attempt an adults table and kids table this year, but I didn’t want to make the adult table so fancy that it made our guests feel stiff and awkward.  This was actually our very first time using our wedding china, wine glasses, and silverware, and I’m so glad we did! These things aren’t meant to just sit on a shelf, they’re meant to be enjoyed!  The napkins were a gift from one of my dearest childhood friend’s mother from Crate & Barrel, so I always think of her when we use them.  I also used a chalkboard table runner and wrote “What are you thankful for?” in the hopes that our family would write down their own responses.

The “kids” table, with not so little kids!  Each place setting had a coloring page to entertain themselves with, and they got some cute Hobby Lobby paper plates and napkins to use as well.  Easy peasy and simple to clean up!

Cora was so happy to spend time with her cousin Erika and her boyfriend, James.  They are two of her favorite people in the world, and it cracks me up that she and Erika are making the exact same face in this picture. 🙂

A close up of the coloring pages I found at Target for the little ones.  I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of some of the finished products, but I must say we have some talented artists in the family! They also happen to be really good at word searches.  Beauty and brains! 😉IMG_8823

The adults table sitting down for dinner.  I love that we were all able to gather around and tell stories, reminisce, and catch up.  The conversations varied between Spanish and English, but they were all so lovely to be a part of.

Cora and her cousin Anthony “playing’ the Game of Life.  Also known as throwing play money around and losing 500 very necessary pieces.  But they were content and they were playing nicely together, so it works.

The finished table runner! It makes me so happy that people really went all out.  We had some doodles, some prayers, and some in English and Spanish.  I love it!

This one from my nephew Tivi is probably my favorite.  For such a young man, he is so wise! Thankful, indeed.

A final group shot before the evening was over.  This isn’t everybody in the family, but it was a good turn out!

And a silly shot lest you think we take ourselves too seriously.  Love, love, love my family in San Antonio, Indiana, and all over the world.  Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!

XO,
