When I was younger, I dreamed of being the next Christiane Amanpour. A foreign correspondent, I would travel the world covering war zones and impoverished countries. I read All The President’s Men when girls my age were reading Seventeen magazine. But as I grew older, for one reason or another, my dream of becoming a journalist slowly faded away. This blog has served as an outlet for me to write and share my perspective with you all, but a new opportunity has recently come my way to allow for my dream to finally, in an entirely unexpected manner, come true.

My friend Pamela Lutrell has recently become the Editor-in-Chief for San Antonio Woman magazine. So when she called me to ask if I’d like to serve as the Fashion + Beauty Editor, I almost fell off my chair. I accepted without a second thought, and we’ve had to keep it under wraps until today! But I wanted you all to be some of the first to hear the official news, and help me celebrate! The day I walked out of my interview for the position, after hearing that the job was truly mine, I cried. I just cannot believe how blessed I am to have been given this opportunity, and to be heard on a platform like this fantastic magazine.

I hope it’s always been evident on this blog that I am passionate about female empowerment. That’s precisely why I am so thrilled to be part of a publication that highlights women in our community that are up to big things. It’s a smart, savvy, and sometimes surprising look at the talent our city has to offer across every industry you can imagine. I can’t wait to lend a fresh perspective to the fashion and beauty content, offering up personalized content, engaging information, and really going beyond surface level topics to get at the heart of what makes women feel beautiful and powerful. My heart is incredibly full and I am forever grateful to Pamela for giving me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Truly, truly, it is amazing what God puts in your path when you least expect it.

To follow along on social media with San Antonio Woman, you can find the magazine on Facebook here, Instagram here, and Twitter here. New issues hit stands on a bi-monthly basis at your local HEB and Central Market, so be on the look out for my first spreads in November! And don’t worry, I’ll still be here at Haute in Texas per usual, now you just get a chance to hear me blather on in print, too! 🙂

XO,

A
