For those of you not from the San Antonio area, Fiesta may be something of a mystery. See if you can follow me here: it’s 11 days, 100 events, and a big excuse for everyone to party and eat ridiculously unhealthy foods. Kinda like SXSW, minus that boring business stuff. Fashion did make the cut, however, and we kicked things off with the Fiesta Fierce Fashion Parade, hosted by Great Day SA’s Cassandra Lazenby.

The show itself was held in the Hotel Contessa, which turned out to be a fabulous venue, albeit a little small. Hotel guests were watching from the balconies, and the Riverwalk was just outside, bringing in the Fiesta vibe perfectly. Also, major props to DJ Ramon Rodriguez, who provided some serious beats. Wow, I just used “beats” in an actual sentence. Anyway, the show featured designs by Mandi Gallegos, Valerie Perez, Isabel Lotti, the UTSA College of Architecture, Haute Republic, Langford Market, and Jolissa Sellers.  There was a strong showing of swimwear, which we’ll feature in an upcoming post.  Some of the designs were also featured in the IADT show a few weeks ago, but the intimate seating arrangements allowed for a much closer inspection, as the video below can attest to.

The real star of the show, however, was the amazing cause.  St. PJ’s Children’s Home provides a sanctuary for neglected and abused children here in San Antonio.  As many of the speakers mentioned throughout the evening, preventing child abuse is of the utmost importance not only for the child, but for the well being of the entire community as well.  All of the proceeds from the night went to St. PJ’s, and a silent auction went towards the cause as well.  If you can give of your resources, whether it’s time, money, or otherwise, please visit their website here.  Below you can see the children’s portion of the show.  If this doesn’t make you want to help a little one in need, I don’t know what will.

Apologies for my obnoxious laughter throughout the clip, but it was just so darn cute!  Next show, I’m having the hubs hold the Flip, I promise.

XO,

A
