Groupon is an amazing thing, and for someone who’s relatively new in town, it has been an amazing resource to find local shops, events, and other novel ideas where I otherwise might have missed them.  My most recent Groupon adventure took me to a tiny little vintage shop near downtown San Antonio, perfectly titled Redemption Garb Vintage.  I entered with my husband, and after he finished gawking at all the cool band t-shirts in the men’s section, I was able to focus on the adorable selection of vintage dresses dating anywhere from the 1940’s to the best decade ever, the 80’s.  The purses were also fabulous and I almost brought home several patent leather Jackie-O-esque numbers that were neutral and yet oh-so-chic.  In addition to almost making those mine, I discovered a lovely pair of Michael Kors flats that were only 3 sizes too small.  It was just not meant to be…

Finally, the jewelry in this store truly deserves its own paragraph, if not its own article.  There were flirty cocktail rings, feathers draped from leather necklaces, and headbands with plenty of fun details.  I could have easily spent my entire Groupon discount on solely the oversized jewel rings I was able to uncover.  I was pleasantly surprised to find everything in the store, including the jewelry, well-organized and smelling normal.  One thing I can’t stand about vintage stores is the creepy grandma scent, but there was little to none at Redemption Garb.

In the end I selected a handmade (by the owner, are you jealous of her now?) tunic with a complimentary fabric belt to emphasize my figure. 😉  I’m not even embarrassed to admit I wore it the very next day to spend time with family, and yes, I received a compliment or two!  I highly recommend this store if you’re into vintage that’s lady-like with a touch of glamour.  There were a few punk-inspired pieces, but for the most part the clothing, accessories, and jewelry focused on a romantic style, which I happen to love.  Check out their website here, and if you’re not in San Antonio no need to fret, I believe they have an Etsy store! 🙂
