Is it weird that one of the main things I love about being a working woman is being able to get dressed every morning? I actually love professional attire and I feel pretty comfortable in a suit or a pencil skirt.  Where that gets a bit challenging is in the Texas summer heat, when even stepping outside is a sweat fest in and of itself.  Now that August has rolled around, if we San Antonians are outside we’re basically just trying to find the next closest air conditioned space before we begin to feel the sweltering effects of the humidity and the heat.  Thus, when it comes to work wear we tend to keep it light and casual in these parts, but no matter the weather you can always have fun with a fab pair of shoes, right?

The purse is basically my new go-to, and it’s by a local Texan designer, Elaine Turner. We had a blogger event at their San Antonio location a few weeks ago and it was actually my first time visiting.  Texas media personalities and socialites seem to be sporting her looks constantly though, so I was excited to see the collection up close and personal.  I immediately felt drawn to this blush python Celia tote, simply for the fact that it’s a neutral shade with a bit of glam.  The wing sides remind me of Céline just a bit, but not so much to make me feel like I’m ripping off Phoebe Philo.

Can we talk about the shoes for a minute? Hubs got them for me for our anniversary this year, and proved once again that being married to a metrosexual man is the best.  He knows I don’t always sport “edgier” looks, but these are just enough to push me out of my comfort zone, and into giant status height.  Who cares though, they’re my faves.

We shot this particular look at Eilan, a gorgeous live/work/play type spot here in San Antonio.  It really looks more like an Italian village rather than a hill country resort, but the facilities are stunning nonetheless.  We occasionally go to the farmer’s market they have on Sundays called Ripe, and Orlando loves to stop by the Juicer Heroes location for a cold pressed juice.  All in all it’s a beautiful place to take a stroll, and the next time you’re headed to La Cantera I highly recommend stopping by, even if it’s just to take a look around.

Did you notice my hair and makeup is looking a bit different in this post? My friend Angie was in town from Dallas and had offered to style me up for a shoot sometime.  I took her up on her offer this day, and I’m so glad I did! She styles weddings and other events, so if you’re in the area and interested in her work you can follow her here.  She has the cutest personality and happens to be gorgeous in her own right, so it’s no surprise that she was lovely to work with.  Thank you so much Angie for making me feel like a princess!

Fun fact: when I wanted to get my second ear piercing, my mom tried to talk me out of it.  She thought it was far too scandalous, and that only one earring was appropriate for a lady.  I still feel like a bit of a rebel to this day. 😉 I also had the pleasure of working with the lovely April Deleon of Pure Happiness Photography for this post.  April has been one of my best girlfriends since moving to San Antonio, and she has recently started pursuing her passion for photography! I am so, so happy to support her, and I can say without a doubt in my mind that she makes me feel comfortable in my own skin, whether in front of the camera or having dinner with our families.

IMG_5784I am totally obsessed with gold accessories.  I fought it and fought it for the longest time because I have some very sentimental pieces that are silver and part of my every day jewelry, but I’m finally caving and giving in to the gold craze.  The bow bracelet on the left actually came in a set, and it’s supposed to be worn as an anklet.  I thought it made for an even cuter bracelet though, so we squeezed it on the last possible notch and it’s just small enough to work.  Did you notice my giant ACL scar?  It actually looks much better than other ones I’ve seen, but it’s a battle wound nonetheless.
