Being pregnant during the holidays is pretty glorious.  You can eat all the decadent meals without feeling (quite as) guilty, it’s chillier weather so you’re not sweating constantly, and there’s plenty of family around to pamper you rotten.  The downside, perhaps, is figuring out what to wear to all those holiday events, or if you should even go at all.  People tend to give women with a bun in the oven rather funny looks in the club, or so I’ve heard.  So your partying days may be put on hold.  But what if you’ve got a decadent work affair to attend, or what if you just don’t give a darn, you’re going to go out and celebrate the New Year with your friends one last time before baby comes.

Then comes the challenge of figuring out what to wear.  Maternity style in general is not easy, but formal wear while sporting a bump is even more of a an art form.  Thus, I went digging around my favorite sites that I shared with you all a while back here, and dug up some great options whether you’re headed to the country club or the dance club.

New Year's Eve Maternity Dresses

The sequined number is from TopShop here, while the red shift dress and black ensemble can be found at ASOS here and here, respectively.  I love that these options would go great with tights if you’re in a colder area, or with bare legs if it’s still only vaguely chilly like it is in South Texas.  I tend to prefer form-fitting dresses that flatter your burgeoning curves during pregnancy so you don’t look like a giant circus tent, and these dresses fit that bill while keeping it classy.  So all your husband’s co-workers will admire his lovely wife, not get a pre-labor shot of the baby.

Surprisingly when I went on the hunt for the second portion of this post, I encountered a bit more of a challenge.  I suppose when people think about pajamas during pregnancy, they just assume you can throw on a raggedy pair of your significant other’s sweatpants and call it a day.  But if you’re planning on staying in this New Year’s Eve, you might as well treat yourself to a cute pajama set to ring in 2015 with.

The floral set is from TopShop here, while the capri pant and coral options are from Bella Blu Maternity here and here, respectively.  They would all be fantastic choices to not only be super comfy during pregnancy, but also for postpartum lounging and nursing.  And although the capris from Bella Blu aren’t particularly stylish, they would be perfect for those middle-of-the-night temperature fluctuations that drive me crazy right now.  Can I get an amen?  Also, am I a total hormonal sucker because I think the mommy and me matching pajama set is just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen?  I mean if you’re going to be homebound with a newborn after delivery, you might as well coordinate your outfits, right?

So what are your plans for New Year’s Eve?  Whether you’re toting a little one along (internally or externally) or if you’re still living the wild and crazy kid-free life, I hope your evening is filled with magic.  And great style.  Always great style. 🙂

XO,

A
