natural birth

It’s been almost a year and a half since Issa was born, but I still have conversations on a regular basis about our experience with home birth, midwives, doulas, the whole bit. The questions are almost always coming from a place of sheer curiosity. It’s as if people cannot imagine with the power of modern-day drugs, why we would want to do it any other way. So, to hopefully assuage some fears and relieve some concerns, this month’s episode of ASK A is the three most common queries I hear. We deal with WHY you would want to have a natural birth, HOW you deal with the pain, and IF my family would ever choose to do one again. Watch the video below and let me know what you think!

Now for the disclaimer.

Please understand I am no expert, so I didn’t want to give statistics or try to quote medical studies in this brief video. I realize there are certainly times when a woman can and should give birth in a hospital, and even if a mother chooses medication it is not for me to judge at all. Each person must make that decision for themselves, and I fully support a family’s right to choose where they feel is the safest place to birth their baby.
