Milan Fashion week displayed quite the array of eccentric style and ladylike designs. Spring shows are always a fun time for fashion fans, and the week’s events in Italy certainly didn’t disappoint. Here are the trends we took away this week:

1. Pleats and Fringe

This top look from Moschino may be a bit literal in the Cowboys and Indians sense, but the overall theme of fringe dripping from hemlines was seen throughout.  Roberto Cavalli delivered pleats in varying lengths of skirts that looked more luxe than preppy.

2. Ladylike Style

This look from Dolce & Gabbana is a little on the edgy side with the sheer cut outs, but the general feel of ladylike propriety was rampant on the runways.  As we see here, however, all it takes is a pair of sexy strappy black heels to bring the look straight into the 21st century.

3. Green

Green was to Milan Fashion Week what orange was to New York.  This look from Gucci was one of about seven the line debuted, and the color was mixed with black in various other collections as well.

4. Platforms

This look from Versace is whimsical and care-free, which may not be exactly how it feels to walk in them.  Regardless, the heels were sky-high in Milan, and the design reached for new creative limits as well.

5. Exotic Prints

The top look from Alberta Ferretti almost looks like animal print at first glance, but upon closer inspection it is an intricate weaving of natural elements to form a beautifully wearable piece.  By contrast Missoni smacked everyone in the face with animal print, and yet we left feeling like we’d just had a great night out a club, not sleazy.

Which one is your favorite?
