If you were paying close attention, you may have noticed a glimpse of this outfit in Wednesday’s travel recap of our stay at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa. After taking a look through all the pictures, I decided I simply couldn’t condense such great light and awesome photography (by my handsome husband, of course) into that post as well.  That brings us to today where I’m asking you to give me just a little bit of latitude to share this final look.

To me, a maxi dress is the supreme style choice for a date night. Especially because Orlando is just a smidge taller than I am, if I wear even an inkling of a heel I’m taller than him. Typically for events and mixers where we are out and about it doesn’t bother us, but for date night I often want to feel that we’re seeing eye to eye. Pun totally intended.

This particular maxi is from Zara, and I love the gathered waist and slightly exposed back. I just add a statement necklace, golden belt for a grecian feel, and simple gold slides to complete the look. Lately I’ve also been into pinning back one side of my hair and letting the other frame my face. I think it gives it a little something extra. Whether or not anyone else notices though, I have no idea.

For my beauty look lately I’ve been doing little to no eyeshadow, just a swipe of eyeliner and some mascara. I find that I don’t get as frustrated by the end of the day because there’s nothing there to crease or fade.  Unfortunately my hair is still in that horrendous stage of growing back all the hair I lost after giving birth to Issa, so I haven’t been inspired to do anything with it while it’s in this awkward phase. This too shall pass, am I right?

What’s your go to date night look? Is your husband a foot taller than you? An inch? Does it matter to you or is it the last thing on your mind? Let me know in the comments!

XO,
