maternity style

37 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss? 195. My scale was being very kind to me this week and says I didn’t gain any weight. Ha. Ha.

Maternity clothes? Beyond just maternity, we’re in the full blown borderline tears every time I have to get dressed stage.

Stretch marks? Yup.

Sleep? Pregnancy insomnia is real.  Plus I just started listening to the podcast Serial at the recommendation of a friend, and oh. my. gosh. I can’t stop!  I was lying awake in bed last night poring through episode after episode until Cora snuck out of her room and into ours.  At that point I was forced to stop, and I totally felt like an addict!

Best moment this week: I ordered a doll for Cora to have as her big sister present once baby arrives, and I can’t wait for it to be delivered!  It’s personalized with her name, and made to look like her, so I hope she’ll treasure it for years to come.

Movement? Plenty, and lots of rib shots.  Running out of room in there.

Food cravings? Lately I just want water with crushed ice to crunch on.  Isn’t that a sign that your body needs more iron?  Either way, I’ve probably just about ground my teeth down to nothing by now.

Gender?  GIRL! :)

Labor Signs? No just the usual belly tightenings and that’s it.  My parents are leaving for vacation today and won’t be back until the 22nd, so if I go into labor early my mom is going to lose her mind.  Stay put, baby, stay put!

Belly Button in or out? Outie.

Wedding rings on or off? On, but the swelling is getting worse.  Is it weird that it peaks when I first wake up in the morning?  Then it goes back down to normal pretty much as soon as I get up and get going for the day.  Strange, right?

What I miss? Warm weather.  I only have so many maternity sweaters, it’s getting tough to keep rotating them in and out.

What I am looking forward to? This weekend I have a blessingway for a good friend of mine.  If you’ve never been to one, it’s essentially a celebration of the mom to be, with the focus more on preparing her for labor rather than gifts.  I’m so excited, and I hope it will inspire me as well to prepare for my own labor!

Weekly Wisdom? There was at least one day this week where I was just not feeling it.  I was tired, I felt run down, and my brain was fried.  So I allowed myself a mid-afternoon break in the form of vegging out with Cora for a quick nap.  I have a ton of things going on right now with work, but I needed that time to just step away for a minute.  And guess what? The work was still waiting for me when I got done, and my to-do list was still checked off at the end of the day.

Milestones? 37 weeks is considered full term by most, I believe.  According to my What To Expect App, baby is the size of a winter melon and weighs on average 6.5 pounds.  Yowza.
