You know some of the best parts about being a lady?  In today’s world, we can run a company AND we can wear pink glitter sneakers.  We can throw on a pair of distressed jeans AND some fancy statement earrings.  We can carry a conservative tote and throw our hair up in a top knot.  Or maybe that’s just me, in a single outfit.  😉 What I mean is, we can be a walking contradiction, and yet that’s ok as long as we’re confident in our own skin.  Don’t you agree?

You see that weird bulge in the middle of my new Tory Burch tote? I’m pretty sure it’s Sophie the giraffe, Issa’s favorite teething toy in the history of ever.  Just in case you thought I was cool and only carried things like lipstick or miniature puppies in my purse.  The truth is there is often more of my children’s items in those giant totes than my own personal belongings, no matter if they’re actually with me or not.  I can’t count the number of times I’ve gone to pull out my business card in a meeting and instead come up with a drawing of Cora’s, or a rattle of Issa’s.

Speaking of my children, can I just say how grateful I am to them for causing my postpartum hair loss? (note the sarcasm font)  I thought I had dodged the bullet this go around, but like clockwork after Issa turned six months I started noticing strands of my poor locks scattered all over the house.  It’s beyond sad at this point, so I’m going to stop talking about it before I break down in tears.

These jeans were the pair I mentioned in Monday’s post that I snagged on sale at Nordstrom.  They were also the first pair of jeans I bought since having Issa, and since they were an online purchase I was prepared for disaster.  Praise the Lord they actually fit, and I’ve been living in them ever since.  Yes, it’s stupid to buy a pair of jeans that have holes already in them.  No, I don’t care. 🙂

At this point you may have noticed the stars of this sartorial show: my new Keds! Can you believe these are KEDS?!  I just bought a pair of standard white ones for Cora for goodness’ sake, and now here I am strutting a pair of my own! I didn’t even realize how far Keds has come unto Vogue sent me a gift card to go shopping and select one set from their new Fall collection.  These glitter-tastic ones are actually part of Keds’ collaboration with Kate Spade, and while I’m obsessed with that there were approximately about 100 more pairs I would love to add to my closet! They’ve also got a collaboration going on with Taylor Swift at the moment, so if you’re a fan you’ll probably find those drool-worthy as well.  If you want to add some sparkle to your shoe collection as well, you can find my pair here, and the whole fall collection is here.

Vogue also passed along the news that Keds is now the official sponsor of the “Ladies First” movement, declaring that all women should be free to be first and foremost in style and smarts.  You guys know I’m all about female empowerment, so putting yourself and your fellow woman at the top of your “Who To Take Care Of” list is right up my alley.  It doesn’t matter if it’s a pair of shoes or an extra set of sit ups at the gym, do what makes you feel powerful and prepared to take on whatever life may throw at you.  Get dressed in the morning with the idea that life is going to be beautiful, and it will be.

XO,

A

P.S. I was gifted with a pair of Keds as part of the Vogue Influencers Network.  Don’t worry though, all opinions are my own!
