For me, Paris fashion week is always the most exciting, but this season the shows seemed almost revolutionary since Milan just bored me to death. I felt that Paris Fashion week turned some of the trends we’ve been seeing over and over again on their heels and things headed in a really new, fresh direction. I thought some of the new avant garde looks at Ann Demeulemeester and Issey Miyake were just so great– great to see such a strong sense of direction from such creative designers. I also thought Comme de Garcon was so fantastic- loved the jackets with half of a missing front, and the designs made out of knotted scarves. Needless to say, gettin down to my top 3 was a challenge. These are my favorites form the last week!

1. Alexander McQueen

Since the tragic passing of Alexander McQueen over a year ago, there has been tremendous pressure on Sarah Burton, who took over the label after working closely with McQueen for years, to live up to the McQueen brand. She wowed us last season with her work based off of the monarch butterfly and did so again this week with her collection inspired by ice queen warrior women. The joy is in the details. It just left me speechless.

2. Chanel

Who doesn’t love a little Chanel? Or a-lotta Chanel for that matter! This season’s Chanel show was no where near the typical level of daintiness that the name-sake usually conjures, but instead, they went downright post-apocalyptic on us. It was a little Laura Croft and a lot of grunge. It was a risky and bold move, and it was AWESOME. I loved the rock and roll take on the classic tweedy jacket and the styling of each gown with the gloves and boots. The fabrics were really luxurious up close. Really special knits.

3. Stella McCartney

She had me seeing spots! Polka dots have been done and over done so many times, it’s hard to look at them and think of them as a modern print. Usually, there almost always used in a retro or vintage context. However, the patterns at the Stella McCartney show looked straight-up fashion forward. Dots have never looked sexier!
