As a perennially southern gal, my springs are usually brief.  And due to ungodly pollen levels, they are often spent inside with the comforts of my neti pot.  Even in North Texas, we only had a few weeks of mild weather, that was quickly replaced with temps in the 80’s and 90’s, what most states call Summer weather. Therefore, I don’t have the luxury of wearing many transitional pieces. My Spring is spent building Summer’s wardrobe, and as I can show you today, I’ve already made my selection of favorite sandals. When it comes to Summer footwear, I’m decidedly practical. I know that I don’t want to buy “investment” shoes, as my tastes will change from Spring to Spring. I usually buy shoes within the $20-$60 dollar range, but nicer options are not out of my radar. The shoes I’ve selected are my favorites because they each bring something different to the wardrobe. While my tastes flip often, any one of the following sandals would get loads of wear for years to come.

My suggestions for Texas girls are to invest in sandals that your foot won’t slide around in, even as the sweat factor rises. I know sweaty feet are so not chic, but as you Texans know, summer brings out the sheen all over faster than Bikram in the Sahara. If you find your feet sliding around, the shoes aren’t worth it, as it can cause radiating pain from the toes up. Also, look for sandals that absorb some of the heat when walking around on the sidewalks or parking lots. If you find your feet getting unusually hot, the soles are too thin. Above all else, pick a sandal that will leave you blister free- check out Sandals Boutique for ideas. While it’s not uncommon to have a few places between the toes or on the sides of the feet rubbed a bit raw on the first few wearings (gotta toughen up those boot-feet you’ve had all winter while snuggled in your Uggs!), if they feel tight anywhere in the first 5 minutes, it’s a no-go. In a sandal, a blister or sore is exposed to much more dirt and bacteria than if it were in a shoe that offered more coverage. This increases the likelihood of infection and therefore scarring as well.

Hope you like the sandals on my hit-list!  Post links of your favorites as well in the comments!
