Well, you guys, if you were wondering what the absolute perfect theme for a baby shower is – my family and I discovered the answer on Saturday. We threw an ice cream social for my sister Kelsey in honor of her impending motherhood, and it was the best way to spend an afternoon with friends and family. We also took the chance to do a few maternity photos with Kelsey and her husband Jeff while we had the gorgeous backdrop of my Aunt Vickie’s house once again. You might remember we hosted my brother and his fiancé’s bridal shower there just a few weeks ago, so we were so grateful that she and her husband Gary were willing to host us yet another time!

My mom and Aunt Vickie knew the Lion’s Club in our hometown brings ice cream trucks to events, so the food and beverages were extremely easy to plan with the ice cream baby shower theme. We simply provided the toppings, lemonade, tea, cookies, and brownies and it was all set to go. With the afternoon time frame people were able to visit, come and go as they please, and indulge their sweet tooth while they showered Kelsey with love!

Kelsey also had the idea to have a flower crown made for her by Heather’s Flowers in Frankfort, and it turned out beautifully. She was absolutely glowing, and the floral headpiece just accentuated her mother-goddess vibe! She picked up her maternity dress from ASOS, and the color ended up being a perfect fit with the theme! Not to mention about 30 other people ended up randomly wearing the same color in a total but hilarious coincidence! That particular style is currently sold out, but I found a similar style here if you’re on the hunt for maternity dresses that aren’t just circus tents!

I also found these adorable tablecloths, wooden spoons, and place mats at Target when they just so happened to be having an ice cream party section. Perfect, right?! My mom added the rainbow flag bunting and we simply punched holes in the placemats to string them up for a fun twist. Of course since my sister found out she is having a GIRL we were able to go absolutely overboard on the PINK and have a blast. Forgive me, but blue for a boy just wouldn’t have been as cute. I may be biased, though. 😉

Overall it was a GORGEOUS afternoon, made even more fabulous by some unusually wonderful weather and the great company, naturally. My sister and Jeff are going to be amazing parents. I feel more certain of this than just about anything else in this world, not only because my sister loves her nieces so much, but because she and Jeff love each other with just as much depth.  They are two sincere and honest people who will raise their daughter to be wholly lovely. Of that I am sure. And my goodness, do they have the potential to create a BEAUTIFUL baby or what?! This baby has hit the lottery and she’s not even here yet.

Baby Sobol, I hope you enjoyed your sugar rush on Saturday, but I also hope you felt all the love surrounding you before you make your big debut. I can just feel the joy that you’re radiating from your mama already, and I know that everyone is going to love you just as much as they love her. Enjoy these last few months of baking, and we’ll see you when you get here. Auntie Aquila CAN. NOT. WAIT! 🙂

XO,

A
