This weekend means three things for me: Takeout, Scary TV Specials, and Candy.
But for those of you with a life and a desire to brave the streets or bars for some very adult trick-or-treating, allow me to suggest some very easy and fun fashion icon costumes!
1. Anna Wintour
This one’s super easy: raid your closet for a classic styled dress in a graphic print. Throw on a sparkly jeweled necklace and some round sunglasses, preferably Chanel. Dig up a bobbed wig at any Halloween costumery and put on some lip plumper. Take it to the next level with a fur accessory or coat. Dont forget some pointy-toed pumps. Be extra convincing by talking only about tennis, your love for Lady Gaga (just not her music) and J Brand jeans, and be sure to tell everyone how pudgy they’re looking these days.
2. Stevie Nicks
How much chiffon do you own? This one is slightly more advance but still totally doable thanks to your local thrift store and Hobby Lobby. Purchase several yards of inexpensive flowy fabric. Pin it haphazardly to your sleeves and maxi skirt. Make sure some of it is within hand’s leght so you can play with it a la Stevie. Get a perm and wear boots or clogs, only.
3. Edie Sedgwick
To replicate the style of Andy Warhol’s muse, black tights and black pumps are a must. Find a super short, mod dress, which shouldn’t be hard because they’re really in right now! If you aren’t up for buying a cropped wif, pin your hair up as slicked back as possible. Be sure to snatch up some graphic earrings in a bold shape. Don’t forget the brow filler!
4. Rachel Zoe
It wouldn’t be a proper Halloween list if I didn’t mention Ms. Zoe. This is advanced costumery, but well worth it as the look is instantly recognizable. You’ll need a fur vest (faux, of course), bell-bottoms, a blouse, a gigantic bag, massive sunglasses, big curls or a blonde wig, bold jewelery (be sure to wear earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings all at the same time), and if you really want to step up your game, carry a baby.
