I’ll admit, dressing up for a holiday party in a hot climate is just a wee bit challenging.  While all my friends and family up North are donning puffy vests, blanket scarves, and knee-high boots, I’m lucky to get away with a light jacket.  But that won’t stop me from finding something festive to wear this Christmas, and I’m willing to bet Santa will still find me, even on the beach.

Holiday Party Dress

I actually won this dress from Viva La Jewels on Instagram, can you believe it?! They sent it to me months ago but I’ve still been waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it.  I love that the floral pattern is bright without being obnoxious, and the 3/4 length sleeves are chic without getting in the way of Christmas dinner. 😉

These Joie heels were an anniversary gift from Orlando, and I wasn’t sure how much I would honestly wear them. But my goodness I have ended up wearing them a TON, and they’ve been featured in a look on the blog before here.  Also props to Orlando, my Instagram husband, for taking these photos. Before you know it he might just be the next Annie Leibovitz! 😉

I realize most people would probably lean towards metallics or darker shades of jewelry for a holiday party, but I find this fuchsia pink to be quite merry and bright.  And you’re guaranteed to stand out, although that might also mean attracting the attention of those pesky aunts and uncles or awkward second cousins.  Tough call, right there.

Finally, a red lip might be a go-to choice for Christmas, but I FINALLY found a light lilac/purple lippie that I’m obsessed with, so I decided to go for it with this outfit.  Sure, it may be coming off a little more Art Basel and a little less Winter Wonderland, but carpe diem, right?  This particular shade is M.A.C. “Notice Me” with a few layers of “Potent Pink” layered on top, and I’m in love.  It’s strangely natural looking in real life, and I don’t feel like it’s too much for either day or night.

What are you wearing to your holiday parties this year? Are you leaning towards traditional or a little more daring?

XO,

A
