Erin Condren life planner review

Anybody who knows me, knows I love to be organized.  So much so that sometimes it’s difficult for me to just relax and enjoy my family if I feel like the house is a mess or the dishes aren’t put away right.  I am, essentially, Monica from Friends.  My mind is often quick to latch on to something that NEEDS to be done, and it will not let it go of that idea until I get it accomplished.  It’s a blessing and a curse, but when it’s cute to be organized, it helps.

Enter the Erin Condren life planner.  A friend in our neighborhood had hers on the table when I was at her house a few months ago, and I was intrigued.  I had just discovered the Martha Stewart discbound notebooks, and I mentioned that to the group there.  “NO,” everyone gasped, “Don’t do the discbound, you have to get a life planner!”  Not one to be swayed so easily, I put it off and waited to see if I could find a Martha Stewart discbound notebook at a Staples store.  When Christmas came and went with nothing to show for my efforts, I decided to give this mystical organizer a better look.  After using the planner for over a month now, I can officially say I’m in Type A heaven.  So much so that I’m going to make a super organized LIST just to show you:

THINGS I LOVE ABOUT MY ERIN CONDREN LIFE PLANNER:

1. Space for everything.

There’s a monthly view, week by week view, notes section, workout planning area, folder, zippered pocket, and so much more crammed into this little planner.  I could spend hours just organizing my day with all the tools Erin has given me.

2. Stickers.

Who doesn’t like stickers? It makes my three year old giddy, and myself as well.  There’s a plethora of sheets in the back of the planner for doctor’s appointments, athletic games, even tracking your mani/pedi appointments.  Because, first world probs, it really sucks when you forget that.

3. Happy designs.

Everything on Erin Condren’s website is just so darn cute.  You can pick any cover you like, customize it how you want, and it comes in the mail in the most adorable packaging.  She just seems to exude joy with each product she creates, and if this planner is a tool you’ll be using on a daily basis, it better make your day brighter, not worse.

4. Accessories.

After I received my initial planner, I instantly realized that there were a few add-ons I simply had to have.  One was the meal planning bookmark, which you can pop into each week, track what’s for dinner, and what you need to pick up at the grocery store.  The second was the elastic bands to hold the entire planner together.  I searched for a regular old hairband at Target that might have offered the same features, but I couldn’t find anything the right size or style for my planner.  Hence, I bought into the extras and entered full on Erin Condren addiction mode.

5. Writing my life down.

There is something SO satisfying about writing a list down on pen and paper and scratching the items off one by one.  And it’s just not the same to write it down on a simple legal pad or piece of scrap paper.  Having a life planner means I get the sheer OCD joy of keeping everything organized, and it’s FUN to tote around and use.  If you’re a Type A chick like me and you want to try one out for yourself, just click here.

The only downside I will mention is the size of the actual planner.  I have to carry a big purse, or I have to hold it separately.  Which is fine by me, because I lug around huge totes anyways, but just a heads up if you prefer to travel light.  It’s really about as small as you could have gotten it though in order to fit every well-planned detail Erin throws in.  So it’s a give and take.  I simply suggest you GIVE it a try and let me know what you think!

XO,

A
