So something kind of crazy happened while I was in Cancun. You know how you always see the designer sample sales in the movies or an old Sex and the City re-run where all the women are scrambling like mad to snag last season’s Prada coats or Miu Miu heels? My friend whispered to me (via late night text, of course) that she could get me in to one for Dolce & Gabbana there in Cancun if I would be interested in going. IF I would be interested. As if that was a question?! A few days later, I had a secret address on my GPS, my mom by my side as my wingman, and butterflies in my stomach.
The address ended up leading us to a chic apartment building where the D&G staff had set up one of the units to be a makeshift boutique for the day. Women had already arrived, and there was a sense of excitement in the air as we all pawed through cardigans, shoes, sunglasses, and dresses, with everything marked down 75% off. Your eyes are not deceiving you. The was Dolce & Gabbana. With a seventy-five percent discount. So, as I later told my husband, I was essentially forced to buy something. Am I right or am I right?
So what did I walk away with? I snagged these killer black heels, which are actually rather comfortable. Then I found the red cat eye sunnies, because of course I needed something in D&G red. And finally, I found the holy grail of spring dresses, perfect for a bridal shower and events I’ll have this season. For today’s look, I paired the heels and the sunnies with some culottes and crop top from Zara, to give it a bit of an edge.
I’ve also been experimenting with the half-up high pony that everyone’s been doing with their hair recently, and I kinda like it. It makes me look about 12, but at a certain point that doesn’t bother me as much as it feels like an instant face lift. I kept my lips nude since the red was already so bold throughout the rest of the outfit, and my photographer Christina did a great job as always capturing the entire ensemble. You would never know that I was in a hot box of a building sweating like crazy for this shoot!
