blake lively

Every time I see the effortless beach waves of Blake Lively (or any other of-the minute Hollywood starlets), I get a major pang of jealousy. I’ve been growing out my hair now for two years and it’s finally at a length where I’m craving those gorgeous loose spirals on a daily basis, but with its impressive thickness, my mane takes forever  to dry and style. I prefer going au natural (no blow drying, limited heat styling) so for me, a beach wave spray might be my must have beauty product of the summer.

Here’s how to make your own:

  • 8 fl. oz. of distilled or filtered water.
  • A clean spray bottle .
  • Sea Salt (finely ground).  Use 1 teaspoon for each 8 fl. oz. of water.
  • A coconut scented conditioner. Use ½ teaspoon to 1 full teaspoon depending on the natural dryness of your hair.
  • A dab of unscented hair gel of a looser viscosity.
  • Consider adding essential oils for those with dry hair, or tea tree oil for those with oily hair.

If you’re not so into homemade remedies, my pick for a store bought product is Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray (about $20).

Complete Your End-Of-Summer Look

Beach waves are hard to beat, no matter what year or what fast-fashion trend is going on. They give you that care-free look that can be so lovely over summer and make you think of the good summer days just gone in September.

Now, with the first days of fall on our doorstep, we might not be totally ready to let go of that fresh summer feeling just yet. And, if the soaring temperatures make you dream of white-sand beaches and crystal clear water, you should try the blend above.

Complete your end-of-summer look with a pair of sunglasses – because the sun might be setting a little earlier, but it can still have damaging effects on your vision. And with photochromic lenses is even easier to look good while caring for your vision!

XO,
