Amiche Rachelle Palasota

Our Designer Dish series features up and coming local fashion talent that is creating, inspiring, and making waves in the community.  Today’s feature is Rachelle Palasota, founder and designer of Amiche, and a native San Antonian. With influences from her Sicilian heritage, she seeks to create fashion and art that connects women who are like-minded in their passion for empowering women and supporting female friendships. She continues to develop the Amiche brand through fostering the community and inspiring women to pass on the Amiche message. I met Rachelle about six months ago, and following her journey to success has been amazing! She has a fantastic creative eye, and her passion for supporting other women is as genuine as I’ve ever seen. Read on to find out more:

Haute in Texas: What made you want to start a brand around the idea of female friendships?

Rachelle Palasota: I became passionate about the value of female friendships because I think it is an essential part of life and as time goes on we can lose sight of what matters most. I’ve met so many incredible, inspiring women and I wanted to create a channel for us all to come together with this message. I know there are enough of us out there whose lives can be changed by this simple understanding that we are not alone and that is the heart and soul of what we are doing with Amiche.

HIT: Did you always know you wanted to be a jewelry designer?

RP: I actually can’t believe I am designing jewelry! I never thought I would be doing this whatsoever but I love it. I always loved jewelry because it connects me with my culture. The older generations of women in my family were always decked out and it inspired me growing up. Jewelry always reminded me of places like Italy or Lebanon, places and personas I could only dream of. I started with an online boutique per say, where I would curate the pieces. Over time, I realized the necessity of learning how to make my own pieces so that eventually, I could support women in the manufacturing process also.

HIT: Where do you see Amiche in 5 years? 10?

RP: I see an international community of Amiche ambassadors representing and inspiring our message with passion and style.

HIT: What’s been the most surprising thing about starting this venture?

RP: There is so much more involved than I could have imagined. It has been very challenging and rewarding at the same time but I think what has surprised me most is the idea of starting a brand to the reality of what it looks like day to day.
