For some fashion houses, the beauty department can feel like something of an after thought. They have it to satisfy the customer, and check a box, but they don’t necessarily make it a priority. The precise opposite is true with Dior. Since I first started dipping my toe in luxury beauty products years ago, I have always known Dior to be like a true friend: reliable, trustworthy, and worth their weight in gold. This past week I had the opportunity to attend a beauty presentation and luncheon with Dior executives at Neiman Marcus. They provided champagne, delicate tea sandwiches, and we simply had to enjoy sampling the wide variety of products old and new for the brand.
I’ve been a devotee of their DiorShow mascaras longer than I’ve been loyal to probably any other beauty product. I simply cannot return to the drug store varieties after seeing the quality of my lashes from using Dior’s formulas. But this particular presentation focused on Dior’s skincare lines and brand new lipstick collections. The Dior Prestige collection is causing a ruckus throughout the beauty industry, so I was excited to sample the creams and serums that deliver such amazing results. All the products boasted fragrant and florals scents, which is my personal preference when it comes to skincare. This effect, we discovered, comes from the Rose de Granville, cultivated specifically for use in anti-aging and discovered not far from Christian Dior’s home in Normandy, France.
While Dior skincare is the cult favorite of many, my personal affections lie with their lipsticks. Their classic red 999 is as iconic as it gets, and yet Dior has gone above and beyond this season to launch FIFTY new shades! Perhaps most exciting of all, the brand has now launched matte shades, which are perfectly on trend. Sarah with Dior gave me a quick lippie makeover using their new Visionary Matte hue: a blue-black that created a high impact look when combined with my burgundy shade. The ombré look is not easy to pull off, but these lipsticks blend seamlessly and create a look that will last forever.
