Sweet summertime. She’s finally here in South Texas, after weeks and weeks of never ending rain. This is probably my favorite time of the year because it’s not quite miserably hot yet, and a simple walk to the neighborhood pool feels like a novel and exhilarating experience. Can you tell I’m a mom of young children, yet? 🙂
Cora is finally old enough to both a) enjoy the pool and b) enjoy the walk. We notice butterflies, say hello to the neighbors, and Orlando and I work up a sweat pushing the stroller and our Little Tikes Cozy Coupe 30th Anniversary Car
Thank goodness Issa is too little to fight with Cora over the Cozy Coupe just yet. I’m pretty sure if she could crawl, talk, or hold her head up, she would want a turn. We’re just enjoying the peace while it lasts, because everyone says eventually you have to have two of everything to prevent the epic battles over who gets what. Although perhaps with three years between them we’ll dodge that bullet. Only time will tell, I suppose.
I’m pretty sure my siblings and I pushed each other around the farm (no, seriously) in one of these Cozy Coupes when we were little, and now Cora uses ours both outside and flying around the living room. Which is perfect since the weather here will only allow outdoor activities for so long before it’s just too hot to bear it. God bless air conditioning y’all.
Perhaps the best part about the early days of summer? Orlando is almost always in his off season and home to be with us. It’s so much fun to head to the pool and let him do all the rough housing, while I just relax. Although this month we’re going to be running around like crazy with multiple trips, family vacations, and just a few days in between them all to catch our breath. It’s all good things though, and I can’t complain since Issa is such an easy baby it feels like we’ll still be traveling with just one munchkin.
Speaking of Issa, don’t think she’s missing out on all the summertime fun. She’s going to be my poolside companion this year. Just today we were working on tummy time on the poolside lounge chair while Daddy and Cora swam their little hearts out. I shared a must-watch video on Snapchat of the whole ordeal (just kidding, it’s only thrilling if Issa’s your kid). But seriously, head over there and follow me now! I’m at hauteintexas. 🙂
