When I said my family and I are close, and we were looking forward to 9 days in the wilderness of Montana together, I failed to mention exactly how we spent those nine days.  Sure, there was fly fishing, and there was white water rafting, but there were also quite a few hours spent just relaxing in the cabin without much outside entertainment.  We kept the TV off the entire trip, and despite solid Wifi we managed to stay off our phones for the most part, too.  We played board games, a few rounds of tag, and even went on the hunt for an errant mouse at one point.  But even with all this excitement, there were still gaps of time waiting to be filled.

One restless afternoon, I proposed an idea.  The kind folks at Colleen Rothschild had recently sent me some samples of their beauty line to try, and I thought a facial sounded like a lovely way to pass the time.  Of course, in my family, when one of us is excited about something, we ALL get excited about it, so the spa treat for myself turned into a bit of a group affair.  It started with my mom, who then insisted my dad try it.  Then my sister wanted to give it a go, and once we got my little brother involved he pretty much demanded that if he had to endure such “torture”, the rest of the family should as well.  And so, I give you, my entire family mid-facial:

Colleen Rothschild Review

Aren’t you jealous they aren’t your family?  They’ve read my beauty reviews before, so I thought for this one I’ll give them the chance to put in their two cents.  If you think about it, it’s really good market research to have an age demographic of 17-51, male, female, and a wide variety of skin types try a product.  Right? So here are the verdicts:

Marianne – “I thought the product was wonderful, my skin felt great after using it! I would definitely use it again in the future!”

Clint – “I would classify it as a good deep clean but not an exfoliation.”

Kelsey – “As a person with pretty oily skin I’m always nervous trying out new skincare products but this was a great experience! My skin was soft and less oily all the way through the next day!”

Corbin – “I really enjoyed using the products; they made my skin feel rejuvenated and lighter.”

Hadley – “I absolutely loved how the product made my skin feel, although I will say you’ve got to make sure to get it all off in the end, or else it will make your skin feel somewhat oily.  At least, that’s what it did for me.”

Tenley – “I found it refreshing, and I was pleased it did not have irritation in the after effects.”

Keenan – “I don’t really know how to feel about it. Made my face feel better.”

Orlando – “My skin felt clean and smooth. The same way I feel after brushing my teeth.”

Cora – “It made my skin feel tasty.  I like peanut butter and jelly.”

{NOTE: Issa did not participate.  Turns out it’s very difficult to have a four month old sit still for application. Juuuuuuuust kidding, she was asleep. 😉 }

Just so you don’t think I skipped out, here’s my mid-facial shot as well.  I have to say, this line really is high quality.  The Clarifying Detox Mask was easy to apply, and the small jar lasted for (as you can see!) almost 10 facials with even more still left over.  I love that one of the main ingredients is charcoal, as there are tons of health benefits to adding it to your skincare routine.

After we rinsed the masks off, we also tried Colleen’s Radiant Cleansing Balm which was like a relaxing spa experience in and of itself.  I love that they include a muslin cloth for you to heat with warm water and apply to your face after the cleanser.  Just letting it rest on my face and then using it to wipe of the excess felt like I was enjoying a therapeutic service at the hands of someone far more experienced.  My face felt ultra-clean after the two steps were complete, and I didn’t break out or have any irritation afterwards.

I may have gotten the rest of my family hooked on Colleen Rothschild products as well, since most were still telling me how soft their skin felt even two days afterwards.  I was happy to treat them to the life of a beauty blogger (ha!), and the best part is I now have photos of each of them like this for blackmail.  Ah, family.  Isn’t it the best?

Thanks again to Colleen Rothschild and company for sending such delightful skincare our way, and for helping us create memories that will last a long time. If YOU (or your extended family for that matter 😉 ) want to give it a try for yourself you need to go to the Haute in Texas Instagram right now! We’re giving away a Discovery Collection kit, valued at $150, which is a 7-piece collection and lets you try all their fan favorites!  Just click here to head over and enter!
