If you’re one of those obnoxious people who already has their gifts purchased, wrapped, and hidden away before Thanksgiving, I envy you.  I’ve barely started shopping for others, much less putting some thought in to what I might be delighted to find under the tree for myself on Christmas day.  Last year all I wanted was a KitchenAid stand mixer. The year before that I just wanted a Crock Pot.  So I feel as though it is time to venture into more exciting territory, and a little less domestic.  What makes it tough, however, is that I’m preggo and can’t enjoy things like clothes or even shoes in quite the same way right now.

Here’s what I’m thinking though: now is the time to kindly suggest gifts for myself that I wouldn’t go out and just buy on my own.  Coming up with Christmas gift ideas for women is tough, especially when we don’t feel comfortable just coming out and saying what we want.  I don’t know if it’s my slightly elevated “no BS” levels due to pregnancy, but I’m all about just saying what you’re thinking right now.  Whether it’s because it’s a little extravagant, or just not an absolute necessity, here are five things I’m dreaming of this holiday season:

1.  Jewelry Organizer

I got this exact jewelry organizer for my mom two years ago and I’ve kind of been coveting it ever since. It takes a little bit of assembly, but I like that it’s over the door so you don’t have to drill holes in the wall or anything.  And it holds a TON of pieces.  I feel like I’ll wear more jewelry, and I’ll be able to shut the door and hide it away.  Because the cluttered mess that is taking place on my counter and hanging from my light fixtures (no seriously) is slowly driving me mad.

2.  Home Gel Manicure Kit

As much as I love a trip to the spa, it’s just near impossible to fit it into my schedule any more.  Beyond that, I know once baby number two arrives I’ll barely be able to leave the house for at least a few months, much less spend four hours in the salon.  Enter the Red Carpet Manicure Pro 45 Starter Kit that would be the best of both worlds: at home polish that will actually last.  From what I can tell, it’s one of the best brands available, but if you have a kit that you love, let me know!  The biggest bummer to me is having to buy the individual gel nail polishes and basically start my color collection all over again.  But at least with a few basics (nude, red, pink, etc) I will be able to last for awhile.

3.  2015 planner

Since I’ve started working from home, I’ve become increasingly irritated with keeping track of my schedule, Cora’s, Orlando’s, and general house management.  I’m thinking a pretty, well-organized planner will motivate me to keep things all together.  After an embarrassingly long search online, I finally stumbled across IHeartOrganizing’s planner print outs, and her recommendation of using Martha Stewart’s Discbound notebooks.  It’s currently sold out online, but I may have to stop by Staples to see what they have available in the store.  I’m also obsessed with IHeartOrganizing’s Etsy shop full of 2015 printables, which you can find here.  Her 2014 planner is pictured above.  Can you even handle the cuteness?

4.  Fitbit

Screen Shot 2014-11-24 at 1.45.49 PMOnce baby arrives in March, I know it’s going to be another long road to lose weight and get back in shape.  My parents love their FitBits, and I love that it’s a fairly inexpensive way (I almost typed that as “weigh” – HA!) to motivate myself.  I’m also planning on cancelling my gym membership because I NEVER make it over there, but possibly starting up at a smaller yoga/barre/pilates studio that I think will be more up my alley.  Everyone tells me that your fitness journey is MUCH harder after baby number two, so any little thing I can do to give myself an advantage will be worth it.  The model I’m looking at is the Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristband, but feel free to let me know your opinions/experiences with other options!

5.  A Rainbow of Cardigans

Screen Shot 2014-11-24 at 1.51.40 PMOk, so I’m venturing into the boring territory I talked about staying away from earlier, but I have recently realized I need more cardigans.  Specifically, more colorful options.  I’ve got my standard black, brown, purple, pink, but I’d like to expand my collection to a whole rainbow so that I can mix and match tops underneath for endless outfit combinations.  I don’t even mind having four different colors of the exact same cardigan from a store like J. Crew or Ann Taylor.  Because if it works, it works.  No need to reinvent the wheel here people.  Call me basic if you will, but a cardigan and coffee would make me very happy this Christmas.  Just make it decaf for at least a few more months. Womp womp.

What’s on your Christmas list this year? Are you comfortable asking for what you want or do you hope people will figure it out on their own?

XO,

A
