I’ve been debating about if/when I wanted to write this post for a little while now.  It’s always a bit unnerving to write the highly personal posts, and although my faith isn’t a secret, I haven’t actually taken the time to spell it out for my readers in black and white.  Recently though, we’ve started a new series at church on why work matters to God.  Why your career can and should be intertwined with your spiritual journey, no matter how unwelcome it may seem in the office.  Since this blog is one of my passions and pursuits in life, I think it’s important that I confess to all of you one simple fact: I am a follower of Jesus.

This doesn’t mean Haute in Texas is becoming a religious blog.  If that’s what you want, I highly recommend Naptime Diaries and She Reads Truth. I’m still going to write about fashion, beauty, and motherhood because that’s all a part of my life.  I think it’s important that women understand that choosing Christ doesn’t mean you have to dress frumpy and never put on makeup for the rest of your life.  It’s ok to like those things, it’s ok to indulge every once in awhile, we just have to keep in mind Who is at the forefront of it all.

In plenty of my previous posts, I’ve mentioned that we’re blessed, or I’ve thanked God for something, and that’s where I envision it staying for now.  I just think it’s essential to use this platform to tell you, in at least one fully devoted blog post, that if you want to know more about Jesus and what he’s done for my life, I’m an open book.  If you want to come to church with me, it’s every Sunday at 11:30 at Oak Hills Church, or you can watch it online here.  And if you ever see me straying from Christian values on this blog, I want you to call me out on it.

Everything I have, everything I am, is thanks to God.  He gave me my love for writing, he gave me this blog, now it’s time to offer it up to Him as a way to further His will.  If that’s through a kind, gentle voice that writes on the struggles of motherhood, or in a post about fashion that isn’t all about how much something costs or how it will make you better than the next girl, I’m up for it.  I’m all in.  And I hope you are too.

XO,

A
