Today’s post is less informative and more inquisitive.  The question is, “When should I change things up in my makeup and skincare routines?”  The seasons are changing, the weather is shifting, so wouldn’t now be the perfect time to mix in a little variety?  Personally, I really only start to change things up when I’ve become so frustrated with the old results.  I then go through the process of finding some new routine that I’m fairly satisfied with, and then the process begins again all over.  But am I going about things the wrong way?  Should I be sticking it out with my go-to routine until death does us part?

Leave it to Google to solve all the mysteries of my skincare life.  I found this great blog, Ask An Esthetician, where all those “stupid” questions you hate to ask your girlfriends are answered.  According to the author, there’s no need to change your skincare routine unless you’re having issues.  The great analogy they use is, your body doesn’t get “used” to healthy foods, so your skin isn’t going to get “used” to a skincare routine that works for you.  Everybody say, “Ohhhhhhhhh.”

Next skincare question that has been nagging at me lately: How often do I need to clean my makeup brushes?  The standard answer appears to be once a month.  Click here for a great tutorial on exactly how to clean them.  Whenever I start to notice that I’m breaking out more, or having issues with my skin in general, I will amp up the face washing, wash my pillows, and CLEAN MY BRUSHES.  It always seems to help calm things down in the trouble spots, and make me feel all squeaky clean again.

What are some other beauty or skincare questions you have?  Any other tips you can share with us on making changes in your routine?  As they say, change can be scary, but especially when it comes to your face it can be the life-saving jolt your complexion needs.
