Car seat safety is one of those things I find extremely intimidating as a parent. It seems the rules are changing constantly, the mom shame is never ending, and just when you think you’ve got your kid’s routine down they outgrow their current model. That’s why when Alamo City Moms Blog invited me to attend their luncheon with Britax, one of the leading car seat manufacturers in the world, I jumped at the chance. Mom guilt be banished, I would finally know all there is to know about buckling my little ones up safely!

I’m happy to report the particular seat Britax was excited to show us will knock your socks off. The Advocate model with ClickTight technology and Britax’s brand new Anti-Rebound Bar is the Lexus of car seats, quite literally. Fitting children from 5 pounds all the way to 65, it features all the latest advances in security to ease any parent’s mind. Specifically, the ClickTight technology makes installation and a tight fit a breeze. We all know your child’s seat isn’t supposed to move more than a few inches if you tug on it, but it’s seemingly impossible to get that tight of a fit on your own. But as the Britax representative demonstrated for us at the luncheon, the Advocate removes the need for the LATCH system in your car, which is music to my ears! You simply feed the seat belt through the proper slots, lift the ClickTight seat pad, and lock it down into place. The entire process takes about two minutes, but it places tension on the seat belt in such a way that the car seat won’t budge. Not even a little bit. Watch this video here to see what I mean.

Secondly, the Anti-Rebound bar adds additional safety features for rear-facing babies and toddlers. It’s designed to reduce movement in the event of an accident so when the seat rebounds after the hit, it won’t rock back as much. Britax estimates it reduces movement during a crash by as much as 40%. FORTY PERCENT! Need more proof that this car seat is at the top of it’s class? According to Britax, “3 layers of side impact protection, formed by a deep energy-absorbing shell, quick-adjust head protection and exterior side cushions, absorb energy and shield your child from the most severe type of collision while protecting any adjacent passengers.”

And perhaps my personal favorite part of the presentation, the Click and Safe Snug Harness capabilities emit an audible “click” when tightening the harness straps to your child’s chest so you KNOW it is the proper balance between tight and comfortable for YOUR child. I know both my girls complain when their straps are too tight, so this would certainly ease my mama mind to know that not only am I doing it correctly, I’m keeping them safer as a result. I can put up with a few whimpers for that.

So, are you sold yet? If you’re in the market for a new car seat, I can’t tell you how impressed I was with the amount of care and research Britax has put in to their entire line of products. It’s not just that they’re producing car seats, they’re advancing the technology in an industry that is constantly innovating. It’s hard to stand out from the pack, but Britax has certainly done that in my mind. This particular model retails at $430, which, of course, is a small price to pay for your child’s safety. But if you’re all about finding the deals, I’ve got good news! Britax is having a sale to celebrate Baby Safety Month and it makes it the perfect time to invest in these top-of-the-line products whether your little one needs an upgrade, or isn’t even here yet!
