Cape Cottage Playhouse Review

To my girls,

With the world full of screens, Netflix, and apps, it’s a pretty sure bet that you’re not going to grow up with the same childhood I did.  I hope you’ll let your imagination run anyways.  You’re probably not going to have the wide open spaces growing up on a farm like I did, but I hope you’ll still find room to grow anyways.  I want you to create worlds all your own, let books be your guide, and let your mind take you to places far away.  Don’t let your toys just be your toys.  Let them be storytellers, creators of dreams, and companions in the night.  If you wait for the television or the iPad to give you an adventure like that, you’re going to be waiting a long time.

Little Tikes reviews

Little Tikes recently sent us this Cape Cottage for you to play in, and it’s helping you develop a world of play already.  It’s not just a house, it’s a rocket ship, a laboratory, a creepy cave.  With it’s little mailbox and shutter windows, I can already picture you two sisters playing make believe while I watch from the kitchen window.  I hope you keep playing until I holler that it’s time for dinner.  It made sound strange to you, but it used to be the way every house, every neighborhood was.  I love that you can play in this little house until your imagination is worn out, and it didn’t even take your Daddy hours to build. 😉

So keep letting that imagination run wild, girl.  Keep bringing me rocks and telling me their names and what planet they come from.  Yeah, you do that.  But don’t worry, you’ll never hear me tell you it’s a ridiculous story.  Because I want you to envision as many things as you can that aren’t handed to you on a platter.  I don’t want you to just sit in front of a television and let your childhood be fed to you.  I want you to get out there and create your childhood.  Be crazy, be adventurous, be you.  There’s only so much time we’re given in the world to be a kid, I just want you to make the most of it.

XO,

A
