For special occasions like the San Antonio Fashion Awards, I am so happy there’s a blow dry bar just down the street from my house. Many of you may have tried various options over the years, but Blo at Dominion Ridge is my go-to choice when it comes to hair and makeup for a big event, holiday party, or even just date night! I love that you can walk in, choose a hairstyle, consult with their in-house makeup artists, and be on your way in just a few minutes.
For this year’s SAFA beauty look, I knew I would be debuting the new bangs and bronde (brunette/blonde for those of you who haven’t adopted this fairly obnoxious millennial term yet ha) at the event, so I wanted to make sure the hair was the main focus. By the way, shout out to Cyndi at Alta Moda salon for making the leap to bangs and getting rid of my usual blonde absolutely painless! She has been my go-to hairstylist for over 3 years now, and I’m telling you I will never go anywhere else. She’s quick to jump on whatever crazy plans I bring her, but she’s an expert at making sure the cut/color are complimentary to my face shape and skin tone. That’s worthevery penny in my book!
So no pressure for Cyndi, but I brought her the idea of bangs the DAY BEFORE the Fashion Awards. She pulled it off, and the next question was how to style it Thursday afternoon at Blo before we headed to the Tobin. The first year we did more of a high fashion updo, last year we went with a vintage pin curls look, so this year I felt with the bangs and the floral dress it was time for a loose, romantic swept-up style. Think when you see those pictures of women in their bubble bath with loose tendrils all perfectly undone. My stylist Ariel literally had me blown out and ready to go in 15 minutes. It would have taken me three hours and not looked half as put together.
For beauty, Blo’s in-house makeup artist Sara agreed with me that a winged eyeliner would help make sure my eyes weren’t lost under the textured bangs. We chose a bold lip in my favorite Funny Face from Nars. It’s a gorgeous blue-red that fit well with the sky blue dress and dark hair. I was OBSESSED with my eyeliner, and it lasted all night without a smudge in sight! THAT is impressive when you realize how hot it was outside on the Tobin Plaza.
Thank you, thank you to Blo for creating a relaxing, fun atmosphere for Tori, Becky, and I to feel so wonderfully pampered before a busy evening! If you have a big evening coming up, family photos, or just need an excuse to feel fabulous, Blo has their location in Dominion Ridge AND Lincoln Heights! Choose whichever one works for you, and owner Athena will take amazing care of you. Tell them Haute in Texas sent you!
P.S. This post is a sponsored collaboration between myself and Blo. Don’t worry though, all opinions are my own!
