BijaBody Review of Daily Body Serum and Body Scrub - plus giveaway!

Do you remember VO5 hot oil treatments for your hair? Back in the day I thought it was the coolest thing to soak your hair in hot oil for an hour and then magically discover your hair has become perfectly coifed like The Little Mermaid or Pocahontas. Most of my hair aspirations are derived from Disney movies, don’t judge me.  Anyways, even back then it seemed that oil was the way to get the look you wanted.

Now it seems wherever you turn, all the beauty companies are telling us to oil up and use it to cure just about every aesthetic ailment out there, and not just with our hair.  Moroccan oil contains fatty acids that can benefit your skin and locks. Just search “coconut oil uses” on Pinterest and try to sift through the hundreds of issues everyone claims it solves. Oil pulling has become a coconut oil use in its own right, with thousands of people every day now swirling it around in their mouths hoping for everything from whiter teeth to a cure for autoimmune diseases.

Is the hype real? Is it worth adding to your beauty routine? I haven’t gone out and busted open a bottle of VO5 recently, but I was happy to sample BijaBody’s Daily Body Serum.  When I first saw the ingredients listed were honey and about five different types of oils, I immediately thought this was going to be a product I would have to put on an hour before bedtime and walk around naked until it dried.  How wrong I was.  As I’ve been typing this, I’ve continuously spritzing a bit of the oil on my arms every few minutes and my skin is just soaking it up.

The smell also reminds me of that vanilla and brown sugar body lotion EVERYONE had in high school.  Or, at least, everyone at my high school.  Along with Victoria’s Secret Love Spell. Am I right, Clinton Central Bulldogs?  Getting back to the best body serum ever though.  I love that it’s not greasy, it doesn’t clog my skin, and I can still smell the pleasant aroma for hours after I apply it.  A little bit goes a long way too.  I’ve had the sample size for weeks now and it’s still going strong.

Speaking of strong, for the active ingredients in the body serum to do their worst (best?) on my tired skin, I needed a body scrub that could get the job done without feeling like shards of glass all over my exterior. Enter the cleansing body scrub from BijaBody that I was lucky enough to sample as well!  It may look brown sludge coming out of the bottle, but this stuff is potent.  I used just a tiny bit before applying my self tanner one day and I noticed and significant difference in how long that application last versus times when I didn’t exfoliate.  I just scrub a little bit on my elbows, knees, and heels to keep the dead skin from hanging around and preventing my true radiance from shining through.  The smile is also similar to the body serum and leaves me in a heavenly mood post-shower.  And the shards of glass complaint I experience with most body scrubs? Non-existent here due to the crushed grape seeds and milled corn-cob meal (non-GMO) that gently but effectively buffs away any impurities.

I know we’ve talked a lot about BijaBody in the past few months, with reviews/giveaways here and here, but I simply cannot say enough about their products.  They are some of the highest quality I’ve tried, they have strong values as a company, and owner Melissa is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.  Perhaps it’s because she gets the luxury of using her own products every day! To find out where you can find BijaBody products near you (they have TWO retailers in San Antonio!), click here. One of their retailers is NEVA Face and Body, which just recently opened a store down the street from my house, so I have ZERO excuse for not staying fully stocked with BijaBody now! Hooray!
