Ah, Milan, I had such high hopes for you.  Overall, I found the Autumn/Winter Fashion Week to be a bit dismal, with the majority of the shows slipping away into obscurity, forgotten almost by the time the last model disappeared out of view.  Next to the optimism of London Fashion Week, Milan by contrast was almost depressing.  That being said, there were 3 specific shows that left me feeling there might still be some good left in this fashion world.

1. Emilio Pucci

This one was absolutely beautiful.  Loved the mixture of textures and the gorgeous greens, and the pops of turquoise were unlike anything I had seen this season.  The embroidery and use of contrasting fabrics was phenomenal, and I was captivated by the interesting cut outs in the full-length gowns.  This show screamed out Italian sexpot, and I loved it!  Check out my favorite looks below, or view the entire collection here.

2.  D&G

The D&G line for Dolce & Gabbana describes itself as “metropolitan glamour,” and while I wouldn’t necessarily call this show glamorous, it was certainly interesting.  Many on the internet are badgering this show for being too transparent, and trying too hard to be high fashion. I, on the other hand, applaud D&G for taking a chance, and having a little fun with it!  Their intriguing use of typography and giant fluffy skirts got my attention, in a good way! And who couldn’t use a pair of high heel Converse sneakers?  Check it out below, or watch the whole show here.

3.  Gucci

I really, really wanted to hate Gucci’s show.  My husband absolutely loves anything from the brand, and has been dying to make a trip up to their outlet store in San Marcos for a while now.  So, for the sake of our checking account, I desperately did not want to see anything that I could see either myself or him wearing.  Alas, Gucci blew me away, and I must admit, their fresh take on evening wear was, well, refreshing.  I was also a fan of the dark red lips each model was sporting, despite how absolutely horrendous that would look on yours truly.  The T-Strap heels, on the other hand, could be finding a way into my wardrobe soon.  Here are my faves, but feel free to check it all out here.

In the end, Milan might have been a downer overall, but these three highlights will be enough to keep me going until next year.  What do you think?  Did I miss anyone who might have saved the day?
