38 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss? 197. Yup.

Maternity clothes? Finally resorted to wearing the hub’s shorts and shirts to bed now, but I’m managing in my own clothes during the day. 🙂

Stretch marks? Just a few.

Sleep? Still having bouts of restlessness, but once I’m out, I’m out.

Best moment this week: Had our home visit with the midwife yesterday, so we are officially cleared to give birth at home when it’s go time!

Movement? Lately I just feel like baby girl is HEAVY down low, and just occasionally giving me a kick in the lungs occasionally.  I guess she’s getting ready for go time herself!

Food cravings? Water and crushed ice is still hitting the spot, along with just about everything else in sight.

Gender?  GIRL! :)

Labor Signs? Not really, just random tightenings or sharp pains down there.  My midwife gave me a fair warning yesterday that it’s very common for second time mamas to have lots of false alarms, so I’m not necessarily paying much attention to every little pang.

Belly Button in or out? Outie.  Had to change a shirt the other day before a business meeting because it was sticking out so much.

Wedding rings on or off? On.  The swelling in the mornings and evenings has stayed pretty consistent.  Still not as bad as I was with Cora, but there’s still time!

What I miss? Feeling like we had all the time in the world to get ready for this baby.  Now it feels like she’ll be here tomorrow and I need more time to prepare!

What I am looking forward to? Tomorrow we’re having a Valentine’s Day baking party with family at the house and I’m looking forward to stuffing my face with loveable goodies.

Weekly Wisdom? This probably deserves more than just a quick blurb, but in a professional setting, please don’t use every single opportunity to remind a pregnant woman that she’s pregnant.  Yes, I am aware that I look like I have a basketball under my shirt.  But I would also appreciate it if you still took me seriously as a career woman as well.  I swear my brain (mostly) works the same and I can still pack a punch at the conference table.

Milestones? We’re now at the point to start meeting weekly with my midwife!  AND (although she’ll probably hate me for putting this in writing), she guessed that she thinks I’ll go within two days of my due date either before or after this time around.  I was a week late with Cora, so we’ll see if she’s right!
XO,
A
