28 things

Tomorrow is my official birthday.  And while I’m looking forward to the celebration, 28 sounds really, how shall I say, mature to me.  27 I was still young, still close enough to the college years to feel like it was within reach.  28 means I’m creeping up on 30, and the fact that I’m already toting around two munchkins means I’m basically aging in warp speed anyways.  Are you depressed for me, yet? 🙂 But, on the bright side, the past has given me time to live and learn, and in my “old age” I’ve earned the right to pass on my sage wisdom to you all.  Or lack thereof.  I’ll let you decide.

  1. Sleep is important.
  2. Your dreams only work if you do.
  3. Be nice to people. All the time.
  4. Manners are not universal, but yours should be.
  5. Online shopping can be your best friend and your worst enemy.
  6. The best kind of friends are the ones that don’t require effort.
  7. There is no one right way to do ANYTHING.
  8. Your faith in God can feel like an anomaly at times, but it’s worth it.
  9. Never underestimate a personal connection.
  10. Worrying is a misuse of imagination.
  11. Be careful what you say about your mom.  You’re going to become just like her.
  12. A good manicure makes a difference in how people perceive you.
  13. Wear SPF.  Just do it.
  14. Find the balance between doing things well and getting them done.
  15. Never stop exercising.  It’s way harder to get started again than you can imagine.
  16. But don’t stop eating dessert.  Life’s short.
  17. Give people the benefit of the doubt.
  18. Vulgar language is, and always will be, just plain stupid.
  19. Pay people well if you want them to do a job well.
  20. Ask for help when you need it.
  21. Make your bed every morning.
  22. Drink water. Lots of it.
  23. You are stronger than you realize.
  24. Keeping reading real books.
  25. Give every opportunity a chance.
  26. Candles make everything better.
  27. Don’t be afraid of lipstick.
  28. Age is just a number.

Ironic, that last one eh? But it’s true.  I’m 27 today, I’ll be 28 years old tomorrow, and the years will just keep rolling by.  What matters is how I use them.  Cheers to a new year and a new chance to make it great!

XO,

A
