Missoni is perennially one of my favorite designers to watch, because they are experts in experimentation within the confines of their own brand’s boundaries. While we know we can expect graphic knitwear and rich leather’s and furs from the brand, its the multitude of never ending ways they manage to create a fresh looking concept within the confines of the Missoni mission that results in my never ending excitement. Such qualities, after all, are the makes of the world’s strongest brands. Next season was what I would refer to as Madison Avenue’s take on “Hair”.  Angela Missoni told Vogue that next season’s Missoni girl is “a strong girl with a wild side who wants to fuse herself with nature.”

To me, the looks were a riff on 60’s and 70’s hippie couture, with mixed leathers, unfinished pelts and crystals (think more palm reader than Swarovski) intertwined with the high-end knitwear and outerwear we love from Missoni. As always, it never looks too referential, just fresh.
